André Botes acquired a B.Sc. B.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch in 1970.
He first worked for the South African Railways, then joined Consulting Engineers Van Wyk & Louw whom he represented as Resident Engineer on a bridge contract in Helmeringhausen. After 6 months he joined the Civil Contractor Alfred Nederlof Konstruksie. In 1975 he joined Consulting Engineers Hawkins, Hawkins and Osborn and became Resident Engineer on the Grootfontein Military Base, supervising the construction of the Military Airfelds. In1978 he supervised a Dynamic Consolidation Project for the Western Bypass in Johannesburg for 6 months before being assigned to the construction of the road from Springbok to Pofadder as Resident engineer in 1979.

John Kennedy acquired a B.Sc. B.Eng. degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch in 1971.
He worked for the Department of Water Affairs, for the first year in the design department at the head office in Pretoria. During 1973 he was the Construction Manager at Vaal-Gamagara, starting the construction of the water purification works on the banks of the Vaal river (for the supply of water to towns and mines over a stretch of 200km west of Delportshoop), as well as managing the continuation of construction of the Spitskop dam near Warrenton. In 1974 DWA appointed him Design Engineer on the Lower Orange River Irrigation Scheme in the Upington Section Office. That same year he joined the Upington Municipality, first as Design Engineer, and after 4 months taking over the duties of Town Civil Engineer. In 1978 Jan briefly interrupted his Engineering career to attend to the family farming enterprise in Namaqualand, and in 1979 joined Hawkins, Hawkins and Osborn as Assistant Resident Engineer on the construction of the Springbok to Pofadder road.
As the acquaintance between André and Jan grew, they started to explore ways to exploit their mutual passion for construction
Born in Kommaggas, Sonja Carlson completed her seconder schooling at SA van Wyk High School, Bergsig, Springbok. She did her tertiary education at Ttodds Commercial College, Cape Town, where she completed a Secretarial Course. Never too old to learn something, Sonja completed a Payroll Diploma through Payroll Education in 2012. She believes in giving back to the community and is currently Chairperson of SA van Wyk High School Governing Body.
Sonja started her professional career at Auret & Klaassen. She has been working for 26 years with Botes & Kennedy Manyano. 31 July 2016, Sonja will be announced as a Executive Director of the Company, something she is extremely proud of and looking forward in making a positive contribution.
He is the Co-founder of the Auditors Firm – Claassen Stone – with offices at Springbok, Calvinia and Vredendal. James married Betsie, a teacher, and they have two daughters and a son, all working in Springbok. He retired on the 1st of March 2013, but is still active in his advisory capacity at Claassen Stone. James currently serves as Director at several Companies in South Africa and Namibia, and at Botes & Kennedy Manyano. He is also the Chair Person at the Audit committee of the Company.
He spends his spare time on the family farm, Taaiboskraal, near Springbok where he farm with Angus-cattle, SA Boerbokke and Namakwa-Afrikaner sheep.
Recently he was appointed as independent trustee and chairperson of the Richtersveld comunity – Investment Trust.
